AmpliTest Listeria monocytogenes(Real Time PCR)
A kit for detecting DNA sequences specific for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria using the Real Time PCR technique.
The genus Listeria includes 10 species of gram-positive bacteria that are facultative anaerobics. The main human pathogen of this genus is Listeria mocytogenes. This species is the most virulent pathogen among those that can be infected through food (mainly dairy products, raw fruits and vegetables). Listeriosis is a relatively rare bacterial disease with a severe course. 20-30% of infections are fatal. L. monocytogenes primarily attacks the central nervous system, leading, m.in, to meningitis and sepsis. The high-risk group includes immunocompromised people, pregnant women, newborns and the elderly. In addition to humans, L. monocytogenes can infect other mammal species, m.in. sheep, cattle, horses, pigs, chickens, hares and guinea pigs.
The AmpliTest Listeria monocytogenes (Real Time PCR) kit enables the detection of DNA sequences specific for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria in DNA samples obtained from food and tissues of infected animals. The Real Time PCR reaction is duplex. DNA detection of the spirochete takes place in the FAM channel. The second channel (HEX) is used for internal control detection. The controls in the form of DNA molecules obtained by genetic engineering methods included in the kit enable the control of the correct course of the Real Time PCR reaction.
